Major South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has developed an ‘eco-friendly’ method of capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) generated during the ship’s operation.

Verified using Hi Air Korea’s exhaust gas purification technology, the technology uses an ammonia-water sorbent that will contribute to environmental regulations.

In a statement, Lee Sang-cheol, Ship Design Head, DSME, said, “We will do our best to speed up commercialisation based on the successful verification of this CO2 capture and storage technology.”
