An AIIGMA delegation of 12 members led by president Siddharth A Patel, made a visit to Shanghai last month to attend the IG China 2007 event and gain a better understanding of the Chinese industrial gas industry.
Visits were also planned to a number of air separation plants and other manufacturing units, to obtain a greater grasp of their functioning in comparison with units in India.
It was felt that an interaction with plant and equipment manufacturers in China, and an exchange of views, will help evolve the possibilities of upgrading and improving technology.
The overall target of the delegation’s visit was to eventually improve the efficiency and productivity of Indian gas manufacturing plants, while ensuring the optimum level of safety and effectiveness in the Indian industrial gases industry. Developments and improvements within the country’s gas industry are key objectives, intending to produce a comparative study of the Indian standards and Chinese standards for gases and gas cylinders.
