Praxair Inc. has revealed it will upgrade the production capability of its Gulf Coast oxygen pipeline system, in order to meet growing demand for gaseous oxygen from pipeline customers currently under contract.

In addition, the US industrial gases company has announced it is to shut down its 30-year-old plant in Deer Park, Texas, and replace it with a new plant in Texas City, scheduled to start-up in mid 2008 and expected to have a capacity of 1,800 tpd.

The new plant is anticipated to be much more energy efficient and capable of catering for the increasing demand experienced.
