Developing technology for a carbon-neutral world

0

Writing for the journal Science (sciencemag.org) in 2009, Professor David W. Keith observed: “Over the long run, the ability to remove CO2 from the air should be viewed as an essential tool in our kit for managing carbon-climate risks. We therefore need, at the minimum, a serious long-term exploratory research effort to develop air capture along with other direct methods for removing CO2 from the atmosphere.”

That same year, Keith founded Carbon Engineering (CE), a company focused on developing leading technology for the large-scale removal of carbon dioxide from the air, and advancing the world’s shift to a sustainable carbon-neutral society.

Ten years later, the ability to remove carbon dioxide from the air — known as direct air capture (DAC) — is at the forefront of climate change discussions, as is Carbon Engineering’s (CE) DAC technology.
