Emerson has added a new portfolio of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to enable comprehensive manufacturing control and production optimisation.

The new portfolio will enable end users to expand operations and supply chain control – the process manufacturing of goods all the way through to assembly and packaging – by partnering with a single automation provider.

The new PLC’s, part of Emerson’s acquisition of General Electric Co.’s Intelligent Platform group, highlights the increase of end-to-end automation solutions from Emerson to its existing process control market.

The addition also expands its production optimisation and control capabilities in the rapidly growing hybrid and discrete markets, and in industries where PLC’s are preferred or required for faster response and machine control.

The new portfolio of cloud-connected controllers, industrial PCs, and devices for smart plants complements Emerson’s Plantweb™ digital ecosystem, adding another layer to Emerson’s focus on helping customers leverage automation technologies to pursue digital transformation.

The new portfolio includes a comprehensive offering for machine control and discrete applications with products such as PACSystems, PACMotion, VersaMax IO, and QuickPanel+, which will remain standalone technologies for OEM machinery and edge applications.
