New refrigerant gas detector products are set to provide an enhanced solution for leak detection in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry.

Gas detection sensor technology company NevadaNano has teamed up with Emerson on the effort, having on Monday (September 22) formalised a new partnership.

In order to develop the new product, NevadaNano will join its molecular property spectrometer (MPS) technology with Emerson’s HVACR technologies expertise.

THE MPS technology is a patented platform programmable for a wide range of A1, A2L and A3 refrigerant gases such as R32, R454 and R407.

On the effort, Ralph Whitten, CEO of NevadaNano, said, “We are proud to partner with Emerson to develop essential solutions that can help lower the impact of existing HVACR equipment on the global environment and facilitate the safe use of low GWP refrigerant gases.”

John Rhodes, Group President of Digital and Connected Technologies for Emerson, added, “Our solution enables original equipment manufacturers to have their product line compliant with federal HFC phasedown regulations known as the AIM act. 

“The mandate shifts the industry from high GWP to lower GWP refrigerants, including mildly flammable A2L refrigerants.”
