In its World Energy Review 2021, Italian energy company Eni revealed that, despite pressure caused by the pandemic, liquefied natural gas (LNG) increased its share on total traded natural gas.

This was in part due to the US increasing its LNG exports by 59% over the last year.

The Asian market, heavily invested in LNG, imported over 70% of the 484 billion cubic metres of LNG traded in 2020. This positive LNG growth comes after a natural gas demand dip during the pandemic.
