SIAD Macchine Impianti has developed a new concept of oxygen and nitrogen production plants. After over a year of planning and preparation, the new modular Smart Liquid Plant will be presented during gasworld’s Asia-Pacific Industrial Gas Conference, to be held in Singapore from November 17th to 19th, 2014.

A market scenario

The market, for plants in the gas sector, is increasingly seeking “scalable” installations to overcome bottlenecks. This is to meet the ever stronger need for comprehensiveness and flexibility in the market. From an industrial, as well as financial, standpoint, gas users want solutions in order to address production cycles with operational and economic efficiency.

For plant designers and manufacturers, it becomes necessary to address this demand for increasingly modular and scalable plant solutions that combine efficiency, technical reliability and economic convenience, for flexible situations of gas use in terms of demand as well as from a financial standpoint.

The SIAD Macchine Impiantianswer

The design and methodology answer offered by SIAD Macchine Impianti with the Smart Liquid Plant is based on an approach, which has become a mission – efficient engineering.

“The Smart Liquid Plant is a modular system that reduces installation times and costs and also operating and maintenance costs,” says ASU Division Sales Manager, Andrea Turetta. “The ergonomics of the modular setup allows the plant to be installed and started up in about half the time compared to the past, and the design has focused on accessibility of the elements, thereby limiting management and service costs and times.”

In fact, the five main modules are assembled on site in just ten days and their design, which maximises serviceability, allows easy access to the electrical and mechanical parts.

Efficiency = integrable modularity

The five basic modules, designed in full compliance with the most stringent international safety protocols, lend themselves to customisation and the client’s functional needs: dual control of oxygen purity, double safety valve and other devices are available to integrate into the system.

This attention to detail comes from the combination of SIAD Macchine Impianti expertise and the experience of the parent company SIAD, a European leader in the production and marketing of technical, special and medical gases.

“This plant has been designed to cut energy consumption by 10% compared to a standard plant, with savings of about 15-20% on the capital investment necessary for its implementation,” says Turetta.

The Smart Liquid Plant therefore becomes the optimum choice to drastically reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO), i.e. the sum of purchase cost (CAPEX) and long-term operating and maintenance costs of the plant (OPEX), whose estimated average life is 30 years.

The air separation unit uses cryogenic technology for the production of oxygen and nitrogen in the liquid phase, obtaining very high levels of purity (99.6% oxygen purity, 99.999% purity for nitrogen).

The five Smart Liquid Plant models currently offered by SIAD Macchine Impianti are: SL 30, SL 50, SL 75, SL 120 and SL 190.
