An introduction to…Hydrogen gas purifiers


Hydrogen, once a gas more associated with the Hindenburg disaster, has found new life in technological applications within diverse industries such as petroleum, chemical, food, aviation, science, power generation, and manufacturing.

This article focuses on some of  the new uses of hydrogen gas, the need for hydrogen gas purification in relation to sustainability, and features a high pressure hydrogen gas purifier designed  and manufactured by Chicago-based, Ability Engineering Technology Inc. (AET).

In manufacturing, hydrogen can be used for many different processes. These processes include the mixture of hydrogen with argon for use as a plasma welding gas for stainless steel, as well as use as a reducing atmosphere for heat treatment and brazing of parts within furnace ovens.
