Celebrating in the Sonoran Desert: The 2015 GAWDA Annual Convention


GAWDA is celebrating its 70th Anniversary and its 2015 Annual Convention, held at the Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona from October 11–14, was a big part of that celebration.

Like the Phoenicians, known for their great accomplishments as traders, over 800 gas and welding distributors and suppliers were in attendance discussing and sharing information on 21st century trade practices for the gases industry. Here are some highlights.

In a tribute to the Native Americans who have lived in the region for centuries, Monday’s business meeting began with a traditional ceremonial dance that was amazing to behold. Tom Bierdermann, current GAWDA President, thanked everyone for coming (the second best attended GAWDA Annual event on record) and noted a few of the accomplishments he was proud of, such as an eight percent increase in membership and the launch of the GAWDA Group Healthcare initiative during his tenure.
