In focus…Cylinder valves and regulators

The industrial gas supply chain is composed of several key parts, each posing their own respective logistical and technological challenges. From production, storage and transportation, through to distribution and usage, each stage relies on the gas contained within a cylinder to be maintained at a specific pressure for filling and release.

Playing a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling of compressed gases through the entire industrial gas supply chain, cylinder valves and regulators allow precise control over the pressure of gas within a certain flow rate, in addition to increasing safety by including features that protect people and equipment from accidents and emergencies when filling and dispensing gas.

Cylinder valves are devices that control the flow of gas from a pressurised cylinder. Typically equipped with a hand wheel or lever that can be turned to open or closed the valve, the device itself is usually manufactured from brass or stainless steel and is designed to withstand high pressures.
