It was a pleasure to be an external reviewer for this new Access to Medicine Foundation report, and yet it feels like there shouldn’t be any pleasure to be gleaned from this at all. This is an important and compelling new report that once again exposes the sometime unfathomable inequities in oxygen access around the world.
In fact, long after the Covid pandemic has passed, it demonstrates there are still significant questions to be answered.
We need to be clear, this report isn’t picking over old wounds from the height of the pandemic. It isn’t a dissection of all the high-profile gaps in oxygen access, and what went wrong. To think that would miss the point here.
