Rafael Arvelo, General Manager of EQUIGAS, has been busy attending trade shows and events this year after an enforced break due to the coronavirus pandemic. In a break for Rafael traveling, gasworld US caught up with him to check out the latest trends in equipment and the latest developments at the Greensboro, North Carolina–based distributor, which is a link between equipment manufacturers and end users.
Firstly, can you tell us a little more about the company and how it got to where it is today? How does the company support the industrial gases market?
Rafael Arvelo, General Manager of EQUIGAS (RV): EQUIGAS is a family business that’s 100% customer driven. We are known for “We answer the phone, and we ship the same day”. Nowadays many companies are so lean that everything is through an automated recording or a website, without listening and giving that personal touch to the customer. We support the industry by keeping in stock the most complete line of cryogenic equipment, in order to keep the gas distributor’s operations running. Our team has plenty of experience to support and provide guidance to every single customer. Everyday, we receive pictures of parts for our team to identify and supply that same part or the best alternative to replace it. It is fun to see sometimes. There are parts that have been working for 30+ years and many people don’t even know what brand it is anymore. It can be a daily learning experience!
