Taiwan’s CPC Corp. expects the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment from Qatar, under a long-term contract with Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Co. (RasGas II), to arrive this July it has revealed.

The cargo was loaded onto LNG carrier Ejnan recently and is sailing from Qatar to Taiwan, under the terms of the 25-year contract between the two companies.

CPC and RasGas II will be using the carrier to transport the cargo prior to the deliveries of four new LNG carriers contracted from Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Mitsui & Co. Ltd.

CPC and RasGas II entered into a 25-year contract for the sale and purchase of 3 million tonnes of LNG each year, while CPC has also contracted Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. to provide four new carriers to transport the LNG cargo.

The Ejnan LNG carrier will be used prior to the deliveries of the LNG carriers.
