Flow-Cal has been recognised on the University of Houston Cougar 100 List.

The Cougar 100 List is comprised of the top 100 fastest growing companies owned or led by University of Houston alumni. To be considered for the 2015 honour, companies are required to meet a set of criteria based on company growth each year from 2012-2014.

Michael Squyres, Flow-Cal’s President and University of Houston alumni, is an innovator and entrepreneur in the field of hydrocarbon measurement with nearly 30 years of experience in designing and developing oil and gas software applications.

After graduating with a degree in Computer Science, Squyres began his career with Coastal Flow Measurement Companies in 1987 where he started as a computer programmer and later held positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President and eventually CIO. His increasing responsibilities highlighted the need for an industry-wide commercial application for electronic measurement data management.

Squyres led the initiative to form Flow-Cal, Inc. as a software subsidiary of Coastal Flow Measurement, Inc. Flow-Cal offered the first commercial FLOWCAL measurement software application in 1995 which has since become the industry standard. Squyres has continued his commitment to improving hydrocarbon measurement by introducing a suite of applications that pioneer better ways to manage measurement data.

With his company’s growing success, Squyres welcomes the opportunity to represent the University of Houston alumni community and highlight Flow-Cal’s achievements. He continues to support the University through ongoing sponsorship, volunteer commitments and fiscal assistance.

“My greatest accomplishment is building Flow-Cal, its products, structure and reputation,” says Squyres. “We have added many talented and driven employees to carry on our initiative, many of which, I’m happy to say, are also UH alumni. The University of Houston system has played a large part in our growth, and will continue to do so as we increase our footprint both domestically and internationally.”
