This month saw hundreds of exhibitors and fuel cell innovators swarm to Tokyo for a record breaking third Fuel Cell Expo.

The exhibition is the world's largest trade show and this year ran from February 7-9 at Tokyo Big Sight. The 2007 show featured all kinds of manufacturing equipment, materials, components, inspection/measurement devices, fuel cell systems, nanotechnologies and other technologies related to fuel cells and hydrogen.

FC EXPO also proved its status as one of the most important and influential annual exhibitions in the fuel cell industry as it broke its own record in both exhibitor and visitor number, with 462 exhibitors from over 15 countries, 1.5 times larger than the previous show and 24,494 visitors from 53 countries.

Organisers are delighted with this years turnout and are already planning for next year as Kenji Okabe, the FC EXPO Show Director, commented, $quot;We have received inquiries for the next year's show both from exhibitors and visitors during FC EXPO 2007 and even before. We strongly feel that FC EXPO became the venue, where exhibitors and visitors actually implement business meetings upon the practical utility of fuel cells and hydrogen in various applications.$quot;

Many exhibitors also had a successful few days, with contacts made and deals done between companies across the globe. Participants such as Cabot Fuel Cells believe the show was highly useful and plan to return. Speaking about their booth they said, $quot;Though it was the first time we have joined EC EXPO, we were was flooded with visitors. We ran out of the brochures in the very first day, and had to make the copies. We will exhibit again next time, to take advantage of the exhibition for our business expansion to Japan and other Asia countries, and the Europe market.$quot;

Products launched and demonstrated at the event reflect the latest technology to hit the market, and the crowds were wowed with innovation such as an Aprilla motor bike complete with fuel cell, and seminars with top industry professionals.

With the organizers already gearing up for the 2008 event it seems visitors are just as keen for the latest updates saying, $quot;FC EXPO is the best place to catch up with the latest trends in the industry. Surely we will visit the exhibition next time.$quot;
