From the hot end to the rolling mill, Air Products provides the gases, equipment, technologies, and technical services that can assist steelmakers make various savings.

These savings range from fuel consumption, a reduction in their carbon footprint, an increase in productivity, optimization of gas efficiency, and a lowering of their overall costs.

These ways Air Products can assist the steel industry will be promoted at AISTech 2015, held in Cleveland, Ohio from May 4-6.

Steelmakers are invited to stop by Air Products booth 2636 to speak with a knowledgeable representative about the challenges they face in their day-to-day operations. Drawing from decades of experience serving the steel industry, Air Products has the technical know-how to help recommend process improvements and identify solutions to problems.

The company provides a variety of technical services and gas-based technologies, such as oxy-fuel technology, that can help steelmakers improve the performance and efficiency of their operations.

Air Products also offers a full line of gases – including oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and hydrogen—which the company provides in a variety of delivery options to match each customer’s requirements. For small volume users, the company’s CryoEase® microbulk solution offers an alternative to cylinder supply that eliminates the hassle of cylinder handling.

For larger volume customers, Air Products provides traditional bulk liquid and gas supply, as well as PRISM® and tonnage on-site gas generation systems. The company also offers a fast and flexible option for short-term or emergency gas supply through its Air Products Express Services.

For more than 70 years, Air Products has been providing the steel industry with economical and reliable industrial gas supply.

Earlier this week the company announced an agreement to supply industrial gases to Big River Steel’s green-field steel mill in Mississippi County, Ark. Under the agreement, Air Products will operate an air separation unit that will supply oxygen, nitrogen, and argon by pipeline to Big River Steel’s new hot rolled steel facility.

In addition, Air Products will supply a PRISM® hydrogen generator, which will also pipeline product to the facility. All units are targeted to be onstream by July 2016.
