The 7th Chinese international exhibition on gases technology, equipment and applications took place in the picturesque city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

IG China 2005 attracted 154 exhibitors, which appears to be a record yet for the event. The exhibition also attracted a number of international exhibitors from the US and Europe and of the many visitors to the three day event included companies from the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India and the Middle East.

Household names in the gas business exhibiting were Air Products - who was also the Gold Sponsor to the Conference and Linde (both Engineering and Gas). Air Liquide, whilst not exhibiting, was also a Silver Sponsor to the event.

While the number of attendees is still to be released, the volume of people over the three days was good. At a banquet held on the evening of the opening day, Mr Sun - General Secretary of Chinese Industrial Gas Industries Association (CIGIA) warmly welcomed all guests to IG China 2005 and was especially kind in his words to the international exhibitors, especially those present for the first time. gasworld was privileged to be invited to the top table and joined in the number of toasts raised by visitors to the top table.

An International Pavilion was organised by Gas Advisers (gas and safety consultants based in Hong Kong). Rexarc, one of the members, was constantly busy with interest in their acetylene technology and their medical and special gas regulator and control equipment. Dan Telatko, vice president, was very pleased with the way the exhibition went - especially as it was Rexarc's first time in China.

Cryonorm Projects were present for the first time as well and were pleased with the interest shown in their project management and consulting capabilities. Mr Sun, general secretary visited the gasworld stand with Mr Frank Xu (international business manager for CIGIA). Mr Xu said he was very pleased with the event and the attendance and informed us that the IG China event will be held next year in Beijing on the 13-15 September and that bookings for stands had already started following the success in Hangzhou.
