The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) will hold its digital conference on 22nd & 23rd April, including its inaugural awards ceremony, and gasworld will be there to present two of those key awards.

The BCGA Annual Conference brings professionals together from the compressed gases industry, to be updated on the latest developments, current issues and association news.

Its full programme reviews the BCGA Technical Committees publications and achievements, along with other speakers presenting on industry matters.

With the continued uncertainty around the Covid-19 pandemic, local lockdowns and travel, as well as so many unknown factors that may impact the way in which the annual conference can be held, the BCGA took the difficult but necessary decision to postpone its next physical conference until 28th April 2022.

It is, however, holding it’s first-ever all-digital conference for 2021, to take place on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd April 2021, and fully free to attend.

A proud sponsor of the BCGA Annual Conference for over a decade, gasworld continues that commitment to the cause with its sponsorship of the association’s digital event next week.

Speakers will include new BCGA President Lucia Sainz (Air Liquide UK), BCGA CEO Ellen Daniels, TSC4&5 Chairs, Andy Webb and David Hopper, respectively, as well as Rich Gottwald, President of the CGA, Phil Kornbluth, President of Kornbluth Helium Consulting, and Lord Callanan, UK Minister for Climate Change and Corporate Responsibility, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Topics will be diverse and include the following:

  • Brexit – Implications for the Movement of our Products
  • Helium Market Update
  • BIA COVID-19 Vaccine Manufacturing Taskforce: How the UK responded to urgently create vaccine manufacturing capacity
  • Hydrogen Transport Solutions: The here and now opportunities and barriers for scaled deployment
  • Diversity and Inclusion in Health & Safety

The event will also see the launch of the inaugural BCGA Awards.

BCGA members have often been working remotely and understandably all businesses efforts have been focused on pivoting business models and protecting their people and teams.

The BCGA recognises this and wants to give the industry a chance to itself recognise colleagues, leaders and friends in the sector who have excelled throughout the last year.

It acknowledges that there are also leaders out there who moved swiftly into crisis mode and put on a brave face every day to lead and support their teams and/or communities.

“Given the extraordinary year we have had, we’ve decided to introduce Industry Recognition Awards. We’ll be celebrating people and giving you a chance to nominate those you feel deserve to be recognised,” said CEO Ellen Daniels (pictured).

“Let’s all come together at the BCGA Virtual Conference on 23rd April for our inaugural awards ceremony, and celebrate members’ contributions to their industry and communities.”

gasworld’s Global Managing Editor Rob Cockerill sat on the judging panel for the awards and will make a very brief appearance on the 23rd to reveal two of the award-winners, in the category of Outstanding Team of the Year – for which there are two awards to reflect teams within a large company (turnover over £5m) and a small company (turnover under £5m).
