The fast expanding Global Gases Group has been awarded the exclusive supply of bulk helium to the US Defense Energy Support Centre (DESC) for its missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Headquartered in Dubai, the Global Gases Group is a developing and dedicated organisation offering a comprehensive portfolio of onshore and offshore gas solutions. This latest deal is further proof of its growing global presence.

DESC is the largest consumer of helium in the Middle East with the newly announced contract award, which was actually announced in August 2009.

Deepak Mehta, Managing Director & CEO of the Global Gases Group, is clearly pleased that the company’s ‘strengths and responsiveness’ are gaining ever-increasing recognition.

He said, “We are very proud to be associated with DESC and privileged to have retained this very prestigious business for a further term. DESC has been a very special customer to Global Gases over the past five years.”

“This award also highlights the strengths and responsiveness of the entire Global Gases team in meeting DESC’s helium purity, quality and operational requirements and also in understanding the need to supply the helium against tight delivery deadlines. We are also very grateful for the continued support derived from our strong partnership with Matheson Tri Gas for the bulk helium supply.”

Strategic locations worldwide enable Global Gases to ensure total service to customers in the Middle East, South East Asia, Indian Sub-continent, West Africa, the Maghreb region, Mediterranean, and the Caspian Sea.

The group also boasts a strong relationship with Matheson Tri-Gas, with the US company catering for Global Gases’ bulk liquid helium requirements since January 2007 - under an agreement that gives Global Gases exclusive rights to distribute Matheson Tri-Gas’ helium in the Middle East.

Gasworld can also reveal that Global Gases will be expanding its portfolio even further with the commissioning of a fourth helium transfill facility in October 2009. Details are yet to be revealed, but the company notes that an announcement will be made in the coming weeks.
