Green light for construction of green plant

The Bechtel Group Inc’s oil, gas and chemicals global unit has received permission from Angola LNG Ltd. to proceed with the construction of a 5.2 million-metric-tonne- per-year liquefied natural gas train, along with storage and loading facilities for the natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and condensate.

Bechtel has been working on the train since early 2007 in cooperation with ConocoPhillips (COP) and has been involved with the detailed engineering and procurement.

The plant, adjacent to the town of Soyo, Republic of Angola, will utilise ConocoPhillips’ Optimized Cascade LNG process and will produce LNG, LPG’s and domestic pipeline gas.

The Angola LNG project is an integrated gas utilisation project encompassing offshore and onshore operations to monetize gas resources from blocks located offshore Angola and is intended to contribute to the development of a future natural gas-based industry within Angola, with production of the first LNG scheduled for early 2012
