With the release of quarter one fiscal results, Air Liquide announced a 12.4% rise on group revenue. According to company reports, Gas and Services demonstrated strong growth and the sector’s highest ever sales figure.

Indeed, Gas and Services sales reached €3,185m for the first quarter of 2011, this reflected a 11.4% rise on the prior year. Benoît Potier, Chairman and CEO of the Air Liquide Group, commented, “This first quarter is characterised by strong growth in revenue from Gas & Services, which logged its highest-ever sales figure. It is a confirmation of the growth momentum undertaken by the Group and of the positive outlook for gas-consuming markets.”

However, this momentum varies according to regions. In fact, Air Liquide Gas & Services sales grew on the same period in 2010 by 8% in advanced economies, but they excelled by 30% in developing economies.

Also significant was the prolificacy of contracts, Potier added, $quot;As an indicator of medium term growth, the signing of new contracts has continued at a strong pace : the high level of investment decisions, totaling nearly €500 million for the first quarter, is evidence of the trend. These contracts illustrate the Group’s ability to stake out positions in new geographies or market sectors such as Energy and the Environment.$quot;

Large Industries maintained strong pace of growth thanks to start-ups and ramp-ups of production units. Similarly, in the Industrial Merchant sector, bulk and cylinder volumes exceeded pre-crisis levels. With several consecutive quarters of strong growth to its credit, Electronics continues to benefit from solid demand and by Equipment and Installation sales. In a similar manner, Healthcare has achieved steady growth in homecare and a more sustained level of activity.

Potier concluded by looking ahead, $quot;The diversity in our global footprint and in our markets, the pursuit of our efficiency programs and our solid balance sheet are key assets for implementing our ALMA 2015 program.$quot;
