The Gasification and Syngas Technologies Council (GSTC) has announced an expanded and broadened annual conference agenda, on the back of forming two strategic allegiances with syngas and methanol focused institutes this year.

Previously known as the Premier Gasification Association, the organisation expanded to become the GSTC in January this year, encompassing the syngas production, processing and conversion industries as well.

At the time, GSTC’s Executive Director Alison Kerester, stated, “This expansion will allow us to serve the entire value chain of the gasification and syngas industries. We’ll provide our members with numerous benefits, including opportunities to develop new business, access important industry data, learn about cutting-edge technologies, and network with top experts and corporate leaders. We’ll be the ‘go to’ organisation for all aspects of the syngas and gasification industries.”

As a result, the conference will now cover topics such as: syngas to liquid fuels, syngas for fuel cells, syngas to hydrogen (H2), ammonia and derivatives and relevant technology and equipment advances.

Strategic expansion

This year’s conference has also expanded its focus to include pressing issues in the methanol industry, after GSTC formalised a strategic partnership with the Methanol Institute this year as well.

Kerester enthused about the broadened event and said, “We’re excited to be bringing the industries’ top leaders and foremost experts together at our newly expanded conference.”

“We’re now focusing on all syngas producing technologies, methanol, and new syngas markets – so this will be the ideal place to meet a lot of key people in each of these industries.”

The annual conference is the largest event in the gasification and syngas sector’s calendar and attracts a global audience, with this year’s symposium being held in Vancouver, Canada, from 16th-19th of October.
