Containment system specialist GTT will design and build the tanks for a liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC) ordered by Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) on behalf of an unnamed Asian ship-owner.

The 174,000m3 vessel tanks will be fitted with the GTT NO96 GW membrane containment system.

This system is a fully redundant membrane and insulating system, directly supported by the ship’s inner hill.

It contains a modular system of two Invar membranes, an alloy, and two independent birch plywood insulation layers.

The NO96 is currently equipped on more than 200 LNGC’s worldwide.

The vessel is due for delivery in the second half of 2024.
