Hangzhou Hangyang, the largest air separation plant (ASU) manufacturer in China, has recently been awarded a contract for four 83,000 m3/h ASU’s for a refinery in the country’s Zhejiang province.

The four ASUs will serve a 40 million tonnes per annum refinery complex situated at the Zhoushan Green Petrochem Base in Yushan Island of Zhoushan City. The refinery belongs to Zhejiang Petrochemical Co. Ltd and will enhance the production scale and competitiveness of aromatic hydrocarbons and PTA-PET.

The first phase of the project is scheduled to be commissioned in August 2018.

The contract is thought to be worth around RMB 900m (approx.. $130.5m), and is is the second-largest order the company has received after an order for six 100,000 m3/h ASUs for Shenhua Ningmei for a coal chemistry complex in May 2013.

These six ASUs are now in the testing and commissioning stage and oxygen product is expected to be available by mid-March.

Hangyang also signed an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract with United Steel Works of Malaysia for two 20,000 m3/h oxygen plants as recently as Deember (2016). The project will be sited at the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park as part of the Belt and Road Initiative and is regarded as a particular coup for the company as it is not only the first project of the industrial park, but also the first overseas complete EPC project for Hangyang.
