Hexagon Composites has received an order from Air Liquide for a transportable high-pressure hydrogen tank.
The high-pressure tank system will be used in a mobile hydrogen refuelling trailer supporting the rapidly growing fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) market in the US.
The Tier One company has ordered a 950 bar (13,775 psi) tank system which allows for maximum volume of hydrogen per module.
“Air Liquide is a pioneer in the build-out of the hydrogen refuelling network and we are honoured to be part of this mobile refuelling project,” said Hartmut Fehrenbach, Vice President of Hydrogen Distribution of Hexagon.
“Mobile refuelling unites can play an important role in the expansion of the hydrogen refuelling network before permanent stations can be established,” Fehrenbach continued.
The mobile hydrogen refuelling trailer will start operation in the second half of 2019.
Hexagon recently received a United States Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) special permit for its ultra-high pressure transportable tank systems.
