UK-based energy storage provider Highview Power has been recognised in the Energy category of Fast Company’s 2020 World Changing Ideas for its CRYOBattery™.

Through the award, Fast Company recognises companies, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to flattening the curve when it comes to the climate crisis, social injustice or economic inequality.

Highview Power’s CRYOBattery™ technology utilises air, which is cleaned, cooled, stored as a liquid, then converted back to gas to drive a turbine which produces electricity.

The innovation is the only long-duration energy storage solutions that is commercially available today that offers multiple-gigawatt-hours of storage, is scalable with no size limitations or geographical constraints, and produces zero emissions.

“We are pleased to be recognised by such an esteemed organisation for our CRYOBattery™ technology,” said Mark Somerset, Director of Business Growth at Highview Power.

“This recognition is a testament to the need for long-duration energy storage and our technology in particular, which we believe is a vital piece to building the foundation for a 100% renewable energy future.”
