Scotland-based global provider of air and gas handling products Howden has strengthened its ranks following the acquisition of Compressor Products International (CPI), a leading provider of aftermarket reciprocating compressors.

The addition is part of the company’s plan to expand its global aftermarket presence, an effort which has seen it acquire five other companies this year alone.

With CPI’s valves and aftermarket products considered complementary to Howden’s existing technology portfolio, the company will see its addressable markets increase by $1bn.

In addition to supporting the company in the ongoing energy transition, Howden’s current presence in the APAC (Asia Pacific) region and South Africa will lend global distribution opportunities to CPI.

Commenting on the development, Ross B. Shuster, CEO, Howden, said, “Reciprocating compression technology is critical to the energy transition, with applications in hydrogen production and infrastructure, as well as biofuel product.”

“The acquisition of CPI will bring benefits to customers of both Howden and CPI, we’re proud to welcome the CPI team and the CPI brand into Howden.”
