The first international conference on hydrogen safety will take place in Italy in September.

Organised by the EU funded Network of Excellence HySafe, the conference will focus on safety issues relevant to improving and co-ordinating the knowledge and understanding of hydrogen safety.

It is aimed at all those involved in hydrogen safety in the EU including university and research institutes, industry, government and municipal bodies, reliability and safety consultants and will aim to foster a sound basis for the removal of safety-related barriers to the implementation of hydrogen as an energy carrier.

Organisers say there are significant gaps in basic knowledge and safety solutions that must be addressed to allow the development of acceptable legal requirements and standards.

It will take place in Pisa from September 8 to 10.
