Hydrogenics Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of hydrogen (H2) generation machinery, and its electrolysis technology has been awarded a role in Southeast Asia’s first renewable H2-based energy storage and power plant project.
Together with Pharam 2 Civil Engineering Co., Ltd. (PCE), Hydrogenics’ portion of the Lam Takhong Wind Hydrogen Hybrid Project is estimated to be worth €4.3m ($). The project has been awarded by the Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

Hydrogenics will deliver its ultra-compact 1 MW (PEM) HyLyzer® electrolyser, H2 storage and a HyPM® fuel cell plant to the facility, which is located in Thailand’s Northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima Province, whilst Bangkok-based PCE will provide the relevant technology implementation and services.
The installation will use the HyLyzer to convert excess electricity from wind to H2 during off-peak hours with the H2 generated then used by Hydrogenic’s HyPM fuel cell plant to produce 300kW of electricity for EGAT’s energy neutral building.
