Hyundai Motor Group to construct second hydrogen fuel cell plant

Hyundai Motor Group has revealed plans to build a second hydrogen (H2) fuel cell plant as the group unveiled its long-term roadmap ‘FCEV Vision 2030’ and reaffirmed its commitment to accelerate the development of a H2 society.

The South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer last week held a groundbreaking ceremony for the second plant in Chungju, South Korea. The second factory will increase annual fuel cell system output from the current 3,000 units to 40,000 units by 2022.

Aligned with the roadmap, Hyundai Motor Group will drastically boost its annual fuel cell systems production capacity to 700,000 units by 2030 and explore new business opportunities to supply its world-class fuel cell systems to other transportation manufacturers of automobiles, drones, vessels, rolling stocks and forklifts.
