IMI Critical Engineering Greater China, a critical flow control solution specialist, has opened its new facility in Qingpu, China, encompassing its manufacturing capabilities, business management and sales operations under one roof.

The inauguration of the 6,459 m2 Qingpu Plant situated near Shanghai is a major step towards the company’s ‘In China, For China’ business plan.

IMI Critical announced a fund of RMB 100m ($15m) for local manufacturing capabilities in the North Pacific rim country in September 2015, with this new site opening just 10 months later.

China is one of the most important markets for IMI and we plan to grow our business over the next five years and beyond

The new facility will manufacture a range of control valves and isolation valves such as globe valves, gate valves and other relevant actuators and control units for power, oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical and other energy industries for critical applications.

Roy Twite, Member of the Executive Committee of IMI PLC and Managing Director of IMI Critical Engineering, stated, “China is one of the most important markets for IMI and we plan to grow our business over the next five years and beyond. We are committed to continuously improving our service to our Chinese customers by localising our business and investing here in China to be close to the market.”

The new plant integrates the manufacturing capability of Shanghai CCI Power Control Equipment Co., Ltd. and Z&J High Temperature (Shanghai) Co. Ltd.
