SEMI Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG) reports that global silicon wafer area shipments increased from 2,208 million square inches in Quarter 4 2013 to 2,364 million square inches in Quarter 1 2014, representing a sequential increase of 7.1% in output.

Essential for building semiconductors, silicon wafers are found in your mobile phone, tablet, pc and most other modern electronic devices.  The increase in shipments points to significant upside potential for electronic gas producers as consumer-led demand feeds through to increased volumes across the supply chain.
