issue 245 September 2025 – Future of hydrogen

Welcome to our September issue, which turns the spotlight on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and its evolving place in the energy transition. Once framed as a bridge fuel, LNG is now being positioned as a long-term, lower-carbon solution, particularly when paired with carbon capture and storage (CCS). Global demand is climbing, underpinned by energy security needs, rising consumption in developing economies, and the dispatchable reliability renewables cannot yet provide. With carbon intensity metrics entering offtake agreements and financial institutions re-engaging on projects that integrate decarbonisation, LNG is moving beyond transition status toward a more permanent role in the net-zero mix.
