The new venture is between Air Liquide Middle East, Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Nitrogen Company, a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company

The new company will be called Qatar Industrial Gases of which Air Liquide will hold 40 per cent of the capital and Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Nitrogen Company 60 per cent.

Pierre Dufour, executive vice-president of Air Liquide and chairman of Air Liquide Middle East, said: \\$quot;We are proud to partner with Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Nitrogen Company and thus contribute to the development of the industrial infrastructure of the State of Qatar by bringing Air Liquide's experience and technology leadership position\\$quot;

HE Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah added: \\$quot;We are pleased to have Air Liquide as a partner in Qatar and joining us in this company, to contribute to the development of the industrial infrastructure both in Messaied and Ras Laffan,\\$quot;.

New production facilities and pipelines to supply oxygen and nitrogen to the oil and gas, petrochemical and steel industries at the Messaied industrial basin will be set up as early as 2007. In parallel, Qatar Industrial Gases is developing a nitrogen production and distribution system in Ras Laffan Industrial City which is becoming one of the most important Liquefied Natural Gas, Gas to Liquid and petrochemicals sites in the world.

The new venture will result in the continued growing development of the industrial infrastructures of Qatar.
