Karbonsan Pressure Vessels has celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2014. The Turkish tank manufacturer, originally established in Istanbul, has been operating in the field of design and manufacturing of pressure equipment for chemical, petrochemical, cryogenic and power industry.
Karbonsan Vice Chairman, Turgay Karacalar, said, “Karbonsan was established in 1994 by three partners to deal with dry ice distribution and CO2 sales. They started cryogenic tank manufacturing for the domestic market in 2004 at a small workshop.”
“Soon after it became one of the notable pressure vessel manufacturers in Turkey and subsequently, in 2009; the proprietorship changed and Aytemiz Group of Companies acquired Karbonsan. After the acquisition, Karbonsan relocated the manufacturing facilities to Orhangazi, Bursa in 2009 where the facilities are perfectly situated on over 70.000m2 of land, 20 km away from Gemlik, Bursa port. This resulting in the company being strategically positioned to support the major international markets as well as domestic ones.”
“With the capacity increase in 2014, our new state-of-the-art facility enables us to utilise the time and tools in a necessary fashion to provide the level of service that Karbonsan customers have come to expect.”
Karbonsan designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of cryogenic products and systems for storage, transportation, and distribution of liquefied technical gases and hydrocarbons. The extensive Karbonsan product range includes cryogenic bulk tanks, ISO tank containers, semi-trailers and rigid tankers for LIN, LOX, LAR, LNG; stationary tanks, rigid tankers and semi-trailers for oil products, LPG and CO2, evaporators and vacuum insulated pipe lines. Karbonsan is active in the design and manufacture of pressure equipment like heat exchangers and special vessels for power stations, as well.
But what is life like now for the company after such drastic changes from its inception in 1994?
Karacalar explained, “Every day is a big challenge for us and the 20-year-old Karbonsan is focused on ISO tank containers and LNG systems nowadays.”
“Compared to the past, the market has globalised. The future projection of our market share involves sound alliances with international partners in order to be more present on the developing markets. But, as Karbonsan, we are confident to be able to keep up a steady double-digit development.”
