Linde jointly invests €200m in Chinese hydrogen plant

Industrial gas technology group, The Linde Group, is preparing to construct and operate a new hydrogen facility at the Chongqing Chemical Park in Western China.

Linde’s latest hydrogen investment constitutes a 60:40 joint enterprise with Chongqing Chemical & Pharmaceutical Holding Company (CCPHC). The overall value of the project is approximately €200m.

Sanjov Lamba, member of the Executive Board of Linde AG and responsible for Linde’s involvement in Asia, explained the importance of this investment: “As a result of this project, we will further strengthen our position as the leading gases and engineering company in the growth market in China.”
Lamba added, “We look forward to jointly supporting the expansion of the developing chemical cluster Chongqing with our partner CCPHC.”

This, the latest addition to Linde’s hydrogen chain, will supply carbon monoxide, hydrogen and synthesis gas to the nearby BASF and CCPHC production facilities. The plant is expected to go on-stream during the third quarter of 2014.
