Linde has signed an agreement with the Baosteel Group in Shanghai to deliver an ASU plant.

It is definitely a ‘Happy Chinese New Year’ for Linde as they sign their second major deal with a Chinese Industry company.

In December 2004, Linde reached an agreement with Shenhua Coal Liquefaction Company to deliver two ASUs with a production capacity of 50,000 cubic meters of nitrogen per hour. The new plant for Baosteel will produce 60,000 cubic meters of oxygen per hour.

Commenting on the recent Chinese contracts, Dr. Aldo Belloni, part of the management board for Linde AG and responsible for the Business Segments Gas and Engineering said, “These projects have enabled us to further strengthen our position as the leading supplier of air separation plants in China, the most important growth market”.

In the last 12 months, Linde has received a total of 9 orders from China for the delivery of ASUs. The combined revenue from these projects amounts to more than €225 million.

The orders are processed via Linde Process Plant Company Ltd., a subsidiary which was already founded in 1995. Together with the current number of 235 employees at the two Chinese locations in Dalian and Huangzhou, it executes key parts of the engineering work and performs the corresponding material deliveries.
