Linde LLC has unveiled two new advanced chilling solutions to help processors improve temperature control whilst still meeting stringent hygiene and food safety goals.

The first innovation is the hygienically-designed LIXSHOOTER® injectors designed for chilling mixers and blenders from the bottom with liquid nitrogen (N2) or carbon dioxide (CO2).

The patented, self-sealing devices seal out wet products and food particles and flush with the internal surface of mixers to minimise areas that could foster moisture. In addition, it features a dual-cryogen option, making it possible to switch between liquid N2 and CO2 in minutes.

Mark DiMaggio, head of food and beverage at Linde Americas, explained, “The LIXSHOOTER injector is a quantum step-change for injector hygiene, and a dual-cryogen option gives processors greater freedom and production flexibility.”

The Tier One corporation has also introduced its ACCU-CHILL® automated box chiller that uses CO2 snow rather than dry ice pellets to chill food in boxed on demand.

Designed and built to adhere to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements, the ACCU-CHILL system has been designed as an upgrade to manual dry ice pellet packing operations for quickly chilling meat, poultry and seafood.

“Our new ACCU-CHILL automated box chiller makes CO2 snow on demand and deposits precise amounts into boxes,” DiMaggio explained. “It eliminates safety risks, as well as all the storage and labour costs, associated with handling dry ice.”

Linde will feature these new solutions at the International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), held in Atlanta, US, from 31st January to 2nd February 2017.
