Luxfer Gas Cylinders provided lightweight compressed natural gas (CNG) systems for seven Iveco Urbanway buses that are now transporting visitors at Expo 2015, a global event that began on May 1 and will run through October 31.
Located just northwest of the center of Milan, the Expo site covers 272 acres (110 hectares). The event is expected to attract about 20 million visitors from around the world.
Using environmentally friendly CNG-powered buses is in keeping with the Expo’s ecological theme: “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.”
Each bus is equipped with four Luxfer carbon composite cylinders containing 1,280 litres of fuel.
Ofira Italiana Srl, Luxfer’s alternative fuel product distributor and partner in Italy, collaborated on the project.
According to Le Bureau International des Exposition (BIE), the international organisation that regulates such global events, the goals of an Expo are “educating the public, sharing innovation, promoting progress and fostering cooperation.”
Expos are held every five years in different cites.
Luxfer Group has announced that it has acquired Vexxel Composites, a manufacturer of high-pressure composite cylinders for containment of compressed natural gas (CNG). The company will operate as part of the group’s global Luxfer Gas Cylinders Division.
Month on month the gasworld website continues to be the primary portal for information, on a global scale, about our industry - be it through the provision of news and features, or information in the expansive company directory section. Launched in 2004, it is the only independent online news provider and information portal for the global industrial gas community and the larger end-user markets. The website also now incorporates news for gasworld US and Specialty Gas Report.
