Meeting speeds realisation of Vladivostok LNG project

Gazprom and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, enjoyed a successful meeting discussing LNG commitments in the Vladivostok region.
Earlier this week, Saint Petersburg hosted a regular meeting of the Joint Coordinating Committee between Gazprom and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy under Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
During the meeting, committee members agreed to begin investment discussion of building liquefied natural gas (LNG) and / or compressed natural gas (CNG) production facilities, as well as the final products offloading capacities near Vladivostok.
The meeting was chaired by both Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Masaaki Kimura, Director General of the Agency’s Natural Resources and Fuel Department.
The meeting took place in the wake of last year’s Memorandum of Understanding between Gazprom and the Agency. The agreement, signed 12th May, ensured joint preliminary research on creating capacities for LNG/CNG in the Vladivostok vicinity. The group used the meeting to hear a report on the 2009 work undertaken by the group, it concluded with approval of the Joint Work Group’s 2010 – 2012 Action Plan.
