The world’s largest privately-run industrial gases company The Messer Group has been prized with no less than 15 safety awards by the European Industrial Gases Association (EIGA).

The German corporation earned the acknowledgements for its exemplary safety work, with accident-free periods of operation a key consideration.

The top award went to Messer in Slovakia for completing 25 years of accident-free operations.

It was a similar story at last year’s event, when Messer also took home a myriad of EIGA’s safety awards in 2016.

Saftey has always been a key priority at Messer, with CEO Stefan Messer and Chief Financial Officer Hans-Gerd Wienands first initiating an internal workplace safety improvement campaign in 2013.

Messer also confers a safety award of its own once a year, based on zero accidents in the last two years, zero fatal accidents in the last five years and zero accidents during gas transportation or resultant environmental pollution.

The 2016 title was awarded to Messer Spain, with its outfits in Hungary and Macedonia receiving runner-up recognitions.
