Messer is supplying BOE Optoelectronics Technology Co. with high purity gases that are required for the production process of OLED elements.
New organic LEDs (OLEDs) used in technology displays
The Chinese company started manufacturing OLED elements at its Chengdu site in China this year. Unitil now, worldwide production of these elements has been dominated primarily by South Korean companies.
LED technology has been the dominant technology used in the displays of smartphones, tablets and wearables, as well as in TV and computer screens. In the meantime, however, organic LEDs (OLEDs) are about to replace the conventional light-emitting diodes. Thin film components of this kind offer technical advantages over their predecessors and are cheaper to produce.
BOE Optoelectronics Technology now wants to gain market shares. At its site in Chengdu, the company has opened a facility for the development of the sixth generation of LTPS/AMOLED technology. Messer is supplying BOE with the necessary gases – nitrogen (N2), oxygen (O2), argon (Ar), hydrogen (H2) and carbon dioxide (CO2). The industrial gases specialist is currently building a N2 generator with significantly increased capacity to meet the anticipated increase in production.
The Messer Group will be working with SALVIA medical, supplier of equipment for clinical ventilation and respiratory therapy, to provide a joint service package for therapy with inhaled nitric oxide (NO).
