Intelligent Energy’s fuel cell technology will be at the heart of a fleet of scooters to be used by the Metropolitan Police on the streets of London this summer.
The area’s police force will use Suzuki Burgman scooters in the hydrogen fuel cell, zero-emission technology fleet trial. Intelligent Energy has provided the scooter’s fuel cell stacks.
The scooters will use the company’s 4kW air-cooled fuel cells – a compact lightweight package designed to meet automotive requirements, standards and safety criteria. The scooters can be refuelled in minutes.
A key concern today is air pollution in London and other urban centres throughout the world. Intelligent Energy CEO Martin Bloom urged, “We need to look at ways to reduce emissions. Fleet vehicles will play a role in achieving this.”
“With no established refuelling infrastructure needed – they simply deploy a back-to-base refuel strategy – this is an enabler for change,” he added.
Month on month the gasworld website continues to be the primary portal for information, on a global scale, about our industry - be it through the provision of news and features, or information in the expansive company directory section. Launched in 2004, it is the only independent online news provider and information portal for the global industrial gas community and the larger end-user markets. The website also now incorporates news for gasworld US and Specialty Gas Report.
