Medical Gas Solutions (MGS) has been awarded a contract to supply vital medical gases to over one thousand emergency vehicles across the UK.
The four-year deal with the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) NHS Trust will see MGS supply both oxygen (O2) and analgesic gases to NWAS’ fleet across the North West of the UK – a fleet that services a population of around seven million people.
It will provide lightweight, portable medical O2 and nitronox cylinders as well as larger 10 litre units, and complete stock control along with flexible, free deliveries.
MGS will also supply medical gases to NWAS’ non-emergency patient transport service, which makes in excess of one million journeys each year.
Daren Hopkinson, Head of Procurement at NWAS, underlined, “As one of the largest ambulance trusts in England, it’s crucial to work with a medical gas supplier that we can rely on 100%. Our emergency crews attend more than 952,000 incidents each year on average, so it’s vital that we have access to a full range of quality products matched with a delivery service we can trust.”
MGS and NWAS have been working together for almost a decade, with MGS Managing Director Steve Gullick adding, “This win is confirmation that we’re continuing to do a great job for NWAS, ensuring healthcare professionals in the North West always have the very best equipment on board.”
Alongside this new contract, MGS has recently been re-awarded contracts with the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) and the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) NHS Trust, and has also won the contract to supply the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT).
Additionally, MGS provides every ambulance service in the UK with its rapid-response, multi-patient emergency O2 solution as part of the National Ambulance Resilience Unit.
Established in 2003, MGS is a leading specialist supplier of medical gases and devices to the healthcare industry, providing gases for emergency services and medical O2 to pain relief systems and accessories.
