MOCON, Inc., a gas analysis equipment manufacturer, has unveiled a new headspace analyser to significantly improve testing accuracy in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP).
As well as its improved accuracy, the Dansensor® CheckPoint 3 portable, battery-powered, headspace analyser reduces the time needed to analyse oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) headspace gas.
The device features the latest solid-state sensor technology which enables improved accuracy at twice the speed when compared with the company’s previous model. Its sensor also benefits from an extended life span.
The CheckPoint 3 has been specifically designed to distinguish itself from traditional industrial equipment. Its red arch, which is part of MOCON’s visual branding, forms part of its structure with its hollow section also serving as an ergonomic resting spot.
Nick Markussen, Area Sales Manager for MOCON Europe A/S, explained, “We wanted to bring these latest capabilities to market via unique structural and visual attributes. The new structural design also enabled us to position the way to make it easier to store and use.”
“Its accuracy capabilities are particularly meaningful when the food product requires a low O2 concentration. The more accurate your data is, the more you’ll be able to meet your shelf life goals,” he added.
The instrument is available in three models to cater for all food processor data needs and has can be used for a wide variety of food products in MAP including meat, seafood, cheese, snack foods, salads and vegetables.
The CheckPoint 3 will be on display for the first time at Interpack in Dusseldorf, Germany, from 4th-10th May.
gasworld revealed earlier this week that electronic instrument manufacturer AMETEK, Inc. is to acquire MOCON under a $182m definitive merger agreement.
