The opening of a new modern electronic gases plant in Munich-Unterschleissheim, Germany, marks the start of a new era for Linde AG.
Linde AG opened the new modern electronic gases plant, on 15 September 2006, to meet the rising demands of the fast growing market in the field of electronics. The new plant will supply mainly to the European market and is designed for semiconductor gases (Electronic Speciality Gases, ESG).
Gas products for the electronics industry have been produced in the Linde plant. However the production capacities were no longer adequate because of the TNS acquisition situation. The company therefore invested €13m in one of the most modern manufacturing plants for semiconductor gases in the world.
Since the new plant started operations, production has risen by about 75 per cent. This is due to the number of customers who have been added as a result of the joint venture with Taiyo Nippon Sanso. The ESG plant in Unterschleissheim still has capacity reserves and possibilities for expansion to deal with the expected growth in the next few years.
