Dräger, an international leader in the fields of safety and medical technology, has strengthened its North Sea team with the appointment of Michail Tzouvelekis as Regional Segment Manager, Oil & Gas for the Europe North region.

In this position, he will be working closely with the sales and marketing teams in the UK, the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark, which support the company’s Marine and Offshore clients.

Tzouvelekis studied Corporate Communication at the Robert Gordon University and Strategic Studies at the University of Aberdeen. Prior to joining Dräger, he held senior positions at various prominent oil and gas players, and brings a wealth of marketing and business development experience to the role.

Speaking of his appointment, Tzouvelekis said, “I feel very excited to have joined Dräger, a family owned company with a 125-year history of innovation and a great brand.”

Dräger has been providing safety solutions protecting assets and helping to ensure offshore workers return home safely from every trip since the beginning of North Sea exploration. With premises in all the key oil and gas North Sea hubs and with over 100 offshore-dedicated staff, the company aims to be the safety partner of choice.

“Most people know Dräger, or at least they think they do,” said Tzouvelekis. “They know they can buy or rent the best gas detectors or breathing apparatus sets from us. But do they know that we can also provide and service fire and rescue equipment from other manufacturers, such as fire extinguishers or life rafts? Very few people are aware that we also provide training, and not just on how to use our own products; we are an OPITO-approved centre for Authorised Gas Testing and H2S training, for instance.”

“Our company’s mission is to offer technology for life. It’s about making sure everyone comes home safely to their loved ones. That is something I am passionate about,” said Tzouvelekis.
