Air Liquide Electronics is to invest in a new state-of-the-art electronics materials centre in Shanghai, China.
The centre will focus on Electronics Speciality Gases activities, especially for the purification and transfilling of materials used by semiconductor and flat panel display (TFT-LCD) producers.
More than 60 per cent of the worldwide production of chips and all the production of flat screens takes place in Asia and the Shanghai region in China is the new Silicon Valley. The production needs numerous ultra-pure gases at different stages of production and Air Liquide says these expectations have reached such a high level in terms of ultra-purity and reliability, a fully dedicated organisation is needed.
Christophe Fontain, vice president electronics of Air Liquide, said: \\$quot;This is a new chapter for Air Liquide Electronics.
\\$quot;Over the years, this investment will prove to be a reliable operational support for our customers in China and Asia and be able to offer very competitive materials. In addition, it will be the Chinese platform for our Jumbo offer, the new Air Liquide bulk ESG solution, which will have a full range of analytical and logistical operations.\\$quot;
The new centre, costing US $15m, will be equipped with the most advanced technology for cylinder treatment and filling, laboratory and quality systems and will enhance Air Liquide's electronics activities in China and Asia.
