M2M (machine-to-machine) is essentially an ‘umbrella term’ for systems where a machine or industrial asset exchanges data with an individual or the company’s management systems, encompassing a wide variety of applications from vehicle tracking to utility monitoring. The use of M2M services and technologies has been taking on ever greater importance in the gases industry as a tool for asset management.
FreeWave Technologies, an innovator in M2M wireless networking solutions, has announced the introduction of WavePoint™, a versatile high speed wireless networking platform that securely communicates industrial data over long distances to enable M2M, broadband and SCADA applications.
